2022-23 Theatre Year Celebrated at 24th Annual Drama Banquet

The Drama Club rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the 2022-23 year at the 24th annual North Theatre Drama Banquet! Students reveled in the traditions of skits by the Drama Club officers, mock awards, a video year-in-review, a BOLT/parent skit, funny and heartfelt student speeches and, of course, the traditional chocolate fountains!

For all members of North Theatre, there was much to celebrate: from Summer Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice," to the fall one act production "Treasure Island," to a 12-show run of "Fiddler on the Roof," and a world-premiere of an original adaptation of "Winnie-the-Pooh!" Plus, there was the most successful Haunted House fundraiser to date, four Improvedy shows (last one of the year coming up June 1!), singing telegrams during Lovestruck Week, Drama Club, and three Drama Days for elementary and middle school students!

Congratulations to the following students who were recognized with special awards:

  • Hannah M. Twomey Memorial Award: Nora Schumacher

  • David Hartman Memorial Scholarship: Nora Bielmeier

  • Roger L. Danielson Award: Emily Gowing and Anderson Rickman

  • Dramatic Arts Awards for Outstanding Achievement: Nora Bielmeier and Autumn Holmes

In his comments, Director Ron Parker said that North Theatre is a department that never sleeps--always moving from one thing to the next. “But tonight we celebrate by looking back,” he said. He had a special message for seniors about their impact on North Theatre: “You will always be part of this program. We will never forget you.”

“You will always be part of this program. We will never forget you.” —Mr. Parker

Thank you to guest speaker Mr. Steve Schneider, who shared why he became involved in North Theatre as a parent volunteer, and continued as a member of the technical team even after his children graduated.

The seniors were brought to the stage and presented with a special gift. And, the “Treasure Island” actors and technicians were presented with varsity letters for their state-level One Act achievements last fall.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF THE NORTH THEATRE FAMILY ON A WONDERFUL YEAR!!
